Where Mason stands out is on wet or muddy ground. When conditions are soft underfoot, her numbers jump sharply — 13 winners from just 71 races, which is nearly 1 in every 5 and almost double her overall average. Some jockeys instinctively adjust their timing and rhythm when the ground gets testing; Mason appears to be one of them. That's a useful skill to have, particularly through a British season that rarely stays dry for long.

She also catches the eye at Newmarket — three winners from just 10 rides there. Newmarket is one of the most demanding tracks in the country: long, wide, and almost completely flat, it strips away any hiding places and tends to expose riders who haven't read the race well. Hitting 30% at a track like that, even from a small sample, is the kind of detail that trainers notice when they're deciding who to put up on a horse they actually fancy.

At 241 career winners across four seasons, Mason has already outlasted the point where most people are still wondering whether a young rider will make it. The question now is how far she can push that win rate — and whether the bigger opportunities will start to follow.
