TrackLab Insight
The standout horse in this field by some distance — four wins from six races at this exact trip, and a career win rate of one in every two races that no rival comes close to matching. Having thrived since moving into handicaps, winning four of his last six in that sphere, this is a horse in the form of his life. The market still makes him favourite despite drifting from the morning price, and on the evidence of recent runs, that faith looks justified.

TrackLab Insight
The one the editorial tips as the main danger to Wrydcroft, and there is a case to be made — he was beaten just half a length at Leicester only seven days ago and races here on a quick turnaround while his form is clearly at its peak. The catch is that in nine career races he has never once won, and six consecutive runs without a victory suggests he may always find one too good. Cheekpieces and a tongue strap are fitted in an attempt to unlock that elusive first win.

Trainer Quotes
Oct 2025
"He's a really cool horse. He was a big, raw baby and will improve again for another winter on his back. We've had horses historically who have come to the fore aged five, six or seven, and a lot of that is down to patient owners. He just wasn't able to do it as a young horse - a couple of times he hit the front but couldn't go on to win. We've tweaked his wind because it was just something we thought he could benefit from. He won't run again this year, but will be out early next year as he doesn't mind a bit of cut. I'll have him ready and hopefully he'll be a horse for Doncaster and beyond throughout the spring. 15-10-25"

TrackLab Insight
The only horse in this field to have won at Newmarket, and he has done it twice from two attempts here — a perfect record at this course that stands out immediately. The problem is that his record on normal ground is poor, with zero wins from eight attempts on a surface like today's, and his last run was a distant twelfth at Yarmouth. The Newmarket form is eye-catching, but the ground record is a real concern.

TrackLab Insight
By far the most experienced horse in the field with 47 career races — the average runner here has had around 15 — and he arrives on the back of a win at Southwell just nine days ago. The issue is that his record on normal ground reads zero wins from seven attempts, and his specialist track is Southwell, not Newmarket. Rated 10lbs below the field average, he carries the lightest weight but faces conditions that have consistently found him out.

TrackLab Insight
The biggest question mark in the field — this horse has not raced in 476 days, the longest absence of any runner here, and returns with a jockey partnering him for the first time. He has had wind surgery during that long break, which hints at a health issue that kept him off the track. Even with a decent record at this trip, asking a horse to return to winning ways after well over a year off is a big ask.

TrackLab Insight
A horse who has never raced on normal ground before, which makes this an unknown quantity — all his form has come on either wet or artificial surfaces, so how he handles these conditions is genuinely unclear. Recent form is poor with three finishes of eighth or worse, including an eleventh at Haydock last time out. Hard to make a case for him with confidence given both the unknown ground factor and the current run of bad results.

1.5
Fresh (77 days off) Won 0 of last 5 Raced here before
TrackLab Insight
The least experienced horse in the field with just five career races, still searching for a first win and with a single third-place finish to show from those attempts. His most recent run at Southwell 77 days ago carries no finishing position in the data, which makes it difficult to read his current level. At odds of 29.0, the market is saying plenty about expectations here.

TrackLab Insight
Three wins from 13 races is a reasonable record, but this horse has not raced for nearly five months and the last three runs before that break all ended in fifth place or worse. Returns with a jockey riding for this trainer for the first time, which adds another layer of uncertainty. Hard to be confident about a horse coming back from a long break in this kind of recent form.

How do odds work? The first number is what you win, the second is what you bet. So 5/2 means you win £5 for every £2. 4/1 means you win £4 for every £1. The bigger the first number, the less likely bookmakers think the horse will win — but the more you'd win if it does.
