That is a strong return and suggests this is a horse that knows exactly what it is doing when conditions suit. The challenge is that the last six outings have all ended in mid-pack finishes — fifth, fifth, fifth, tenth, sixth, ninth — and there is no momentum to speak of heading into what comes next.

Hayley Burton trains out of Newmarket, the heartland of British flat racing, and has sent out 6 winners already this season, which shows the yard is in reasonable form even if Fancy Dancer has not been contributing to those numbers. Jockey Nicola Currie has been the regular partner in the saddle, riding Fancy Dancer in 6 of its 14 races and winning once together — 1 from 6, or just under 1 in 6. That is a decent working relationship even if it has not translated into recent success. Notably, Fancy Dancer raced just yesterday, so this is a horse that is very much in active campaign — Burton clearly has not given up on finding a winning opportunity.

The first career win came at Wolverhampton in May 2025, and the best came three months later at Brighton. Since then, the form figures tell a story of a horse that keeps turning up but has not quite found the key to unlocking another victory. At its best, racing at the level it knows well, Fancy Dancer is clearly capable. Getting back to that form is the puzzle the Burton yard is still trying to solve.
