TrackLab Insight
Four of his five career wins have come right here at Killarney, making him the standout course specialist in the field — no other runner comes close to that kind of track record at this venue. He has also won over this exact course and distance before, which matters over nearly 3 miles of unfamiliar turf. The concern is that his last three runs have all been fourth or worse, and he has never won on the slightly wet ground expected today.

TrackLab Insight
The market favourite and the editorial pick, backed up by a run just 10 days ago at Punchestown where he finished a close fourth, beaten less than 3 lengths. At 11 years old he has finished in the top three in thirteen of his 21 races, showing rare consistency for a horse at this age. The concern is that he has never actually won at Punchestown across five attempts, but this is Killarney — different track, different story, and today's slightly wet ground suits him based on his record.

Trainer Quotes
Oct 2021
"I can't wait to go over fences with him - his schooling has been magic. He won his last two races over hurdles and wants a bit of nice ground, which is why I'm happy to get him out earlier. He was just no good on heavy ground last winter and then came alive in the spring, with his best run when bolting up at Punchestown. He's declared for Down Royal on Friday and we just hope there isn't too much rain for him. He'll be a two-and-a-half mile novice chaser and we hope he's Graded class. 29-10-21"

The most prolific winner in the field by some distance — this 10-year-old wins roughly 1 in every 3 races it enters, the best career win rate here. Returned from a long break to win at Cork 35 days ago, which is exactly the kind of form line you want coming into this. The big question is why the market has swung so dramatically against it, drifting from a strong favourite to 4.2.

Trainer Quotes
Nov 2024
"He's lightly raced and we're hoping he'll be a Grade 1 horse, perhaps in the Ryanair. He travelled as well as anything to the second-last in the Punchestown Gold Cup last season but just didn't seem to see it out, so we'll stick to two and a half miles. We were hoping to run in the Clonmel Oil this weekend but not on that ground. He's in the John Durkan at Punchestown. 18-11-24"
Mar 2023
"He did well with a 13-length win on his first completed chase at Naas just before Christmas. He has since run well when second to the useful Impervious at Punchestown in January, where he was only headed close home. He's not going to Cheltenham but will be a nice one for Punchestown in April. 01-03-23"

Only four career races at age eight makes this one of the least experienced horses in the field, and the recent form — sixth and fifth in his last two — does not inspire confidence. His one win did come here at Killarney, which is a tick, but that was followed by two poor efforts. With limited data to go on, this is genuinely hard to assess.

A Class 1 winner at Aintree in 2023 — one of the classiest achievements on the racecard — and soft, wet ground has historically brought out the best in this horse, with two wins from four runs in similar conditions. The worry is that those top-level performances feel a long time ago now, with a pull-up and a sixth place in the two runs that followed. At 9.6, the market is offering a reasonable price on a horse with real ability if it can recapture past form.

Ran at Punchestown just nine days ago but the result is unknown, making this one genuinely hard to assess coming into today. What is clear is that this horse has never won on soft or wet ground — zero wins from three attempts — which is a real flag given today's conditions. Thirteen places from 21 races shows it competes honestly, but the ground looks against it.

Six wins from 29 races is a solid career record, and crucially this horse has the best record on today's ground type in the entire field — two wins from five runs in similar slightly wet conditions. Returning from a five-month break is a concern, and the last run at Thurles was a distant fifth. But if the break has freshened him up, the ground sets up nicely.

TrackLab Insight
There is genuine quality buried in this horse's record — a win at Ascot in a top-tier race in late 2023 stands out as a real highlight. But he has not raced for over 13 months, and all three of his wins have come on fast, dry ground, while today's slightly wet conditions are the opposite of what he prefers. Rusty and possibly out of his comfort zone on the ground, this feels like a tough ask.

Thirty-six career races and only 3 wins tells its own story, and the most recent outing was a distant 10th at Cork. More telling still, he has never won on the kind of slightly wet ground on offer today — zero wins from eight attempts in similar conditions. At 67-1 and with his trainer currently running at zero from ten in the last fortnight, it is hard to make a case.

Just one career race to its name, making this the least experienced horse in the field by a significant margin — and that single run produced an eighth place finish over 15 months ago. No wins, no places, and a new jockey who has never ridden for this trainer before. There is simply not enough information here to make a meaningful assessment.

The longest absence in the entire field — this horse has not raced for 826 days, which is well over two years. Zero wins from seven career races, and the last run ended in a pull-up. Coming back after such a long time away, with no wins to draw on and a new jockey pairing, this is a very difficult proposition.

Nineteen races and still searching for a first win — no other horse in this field has that many outings without getting off the mark. The last run ended in a pull-up at Thurles three months ago, and the run before that was a distant ninth. At 81-1, the market has seen enough.

Three races, three finishes between 9th and 12th, beaten at least 35 lengths each time — the numbers are as straightforward as they look. At 11 years old with no wins and no places to its name, this horse has shown nothing in its brief career to suggest it can trouble the leaders here. Hard to recommend at any price.

How do odds work? The first number is what you win, the second is what you bet. So 5/2 means you win £5 for every £2. 4/1 means you win £4 for every £1. The bigger the first number, the less likely bookmakers think the horse will win — but the more you'd win if it does.
