TrackLab Insight
Running just two days after finishing 8th here, this eight-year-old is among the more experienced (78 races, 13% win rate) and has won four times at Ayr from 23 starts—a genuine course specialist. But the quick turnaround, recent 8th-place finish, and preference for good ground (not normal) make this a risky proposition.

Trainer Quotes
May 2025
"He looks to be back to his best and his best is very good. He had a good year last year but not quite where we'd had him before. He looked really well in the paddock before he won and showed his wellbeing in the race. He's won some nice races. He likes a strong pace to run at over 7f and I think that's possibly his optimum, but he ran well in the Carlisle Bell over a stiff mile. We've won it before but that race is on our bucket list, but it may be a bit sharp for him at the moment. We'll have a look at York for him because he ran well there last year and a big field over 7f would suit him. 07-05-25"

TrackLab Insight
The market favourite at 4.33 remains winless from six races despite two places, and three of her last five outings have been at Ayr without a breakthrough. At just three years old she has time, but she's been beaten a length or less twice at this track—close without closing the deal. Her rating (OR 63) sits higher than her record deserves.

TrackLab Insight
Racing just two days after his last outing at Ayr—a pattern he shares with Yaaser—he's the only 7-furlong specialist in this field with a decent record (3 wins from 11 at this trip). But he's 0 from 6 on soft ground and just finished 8th here two days ago, so the quick turnaround and Ayr form are red flags.

"He doesn't really look after himself as he goes flat out. He managed to give himself a stress fracture, so I've stuck a screw in it and he's on the way back. He seems well. He likes cut in the ground. He's the opposite from Tafsir, who is very laid back. He's an improving, athletic horse. With cut in the ground, he'll be tasty. He's hard to catch, but he is vulnerable on faster ground. I'd think he's six weeks away from a run. We'll look forward to him. 07-05-25"

TrackLab Insight
The most experienced horse in the field by a distance (84 races), Novak has built a solid 12% win rate and excels on fast, dry ground—but that's not today's conditions. He's 0 from 5 on good-to-soft and ran 4th here just two weeks ago; his age and mileage suggest he's no longer improving, just maintaining.

"A tough and consistent horse who'll go to the Western meeting for a 7f handicap. The owner lives near Ayr, so it would be lovely if he were to get his head in front. He just doesn't want the ground too soft. 10-09-25"

Albeyours has the best win rate in the field at 17% (one win in six races), and she's beaten only 3.8 lengths in a recent 7th at Doncaster with a win just two months back at Carlisle. But she's carrying 130lbs and is 9lbs below her rivals' average rating; she's a value play rather than a favourite, and 0 from 5 on fast ground raises questions about her suitability today.

Catton Lady sits just a pound behind the favourite on the ratings, but her record tells a curious story: she's a Carlisle specialist with two wins from four visits there, yet hasn't won anywhere else in 17 races. On normal ground today at Ayr, she's won just once from five attempts, and she's winless at this track in five tries—a tough ask despite her rating.

The standout here: running just three days after a narrow 1-length second at Musselburgh, Keep Me Stable has the best record on normal ground in the field (4 wins from 14 starts, 29%), and a career 16% win rate is the strongest of any horse carrying significant form. Fresh legs and course-friendly conditions make her the most obvious threat to the favourite.

Tropez Power has been busy but ineffective recently: 9th, 8th, 8th in his last three races after winning roughly one in 12.5 races across his career. He's 0 from 17 on fast, dry ground and 0 from 9 on normal going, so today's conditions are among his worst; the draw (13) doesn't help either.

Rated equal-second (OR 63) on the back of just one win from eight races, but that win came 84 days ago at Redcar; since then, a 3rd and a 6th with a 31-day gap before today. At three years old she's young enough to improve, but the recent form is uninspiring and she's 0 from 3 on standard ground—exactly what we have today.

The favourite on ratings (OR 63) loves fast, dry ground and wins roughly one in four races when conditions suit him—but normal ground at Ayr isn't ideal: he's 0 from 10 on standard going. Recent form is patchy too, finishing 7th two of his last three races; he'd need a significant bounce back from his most recent outing at Catterick.

Rated equal-second (OR 63) but matched with a jockey-trainer pairing that's 0 from 7 together, a bad sign. His form has collapsed badly: 8th, 9th, then 5th from his last three; he won one in four on standard ground earlier in his career, but there's nothing in recent runs to suggest he'll break that trend.

After a 81-day break, the four-year-old returns still chasing his first ever win from eight races with just one place to his name. His form figures (8-7-7-9-8-3) show a horse that consistently finishes mid-field or worse; the absence hardly helps, and there's no evidence he's ready to break through at this level.

Lowest-rated horse in the field (OR 50, 10lbs below average) with zero wins from eight races, Joshuas Dream finished 9th and 12th at Ayr in his last two outings—a clear-cut out-of-form marker. His only excuse is a long break before his second-to-last race, but recent evidence at this course suggests he's simply outclassed.

How do odds work? The first number is what you win, the second is what you bet. So 5/2 means you win £5 for every £2. 4/1 means you win £4 for every £1. The bigger the first number, the less likely bookmakers think the horse will win — but the more you'd win if it does.
