TrackLab Insight
She has the best record in the field on dry ground conditions — winning 1 from 4 on this surface — but has never won away from Catterick, which is a real concern here at Ayr. Her last run was a close third at Pontefract, so she's not out of form, but her record away from her favourite track makes this a tough ask. She's a horse who loves familiarity, and she won't find it today.

The editorial nap of the race, and it's easy to see why — she was beaten just a whisker at Hamilton five days ago and looks unfortunate not to have won that day. Crucially, she has the best record at this trip in the field, winning 3 from 9 races over today's five-furlong distance, and her record on dry ground is an impressive 3 wins from 8 attempts. She carries the lowest weight in the field too, which adds to her appeal.

TrackLab Insight
The most experienced horse in the field by a long way — 88 races compared to a field average of 34 — and alongside Classy Al he is one of only two runners who have won over this exact course and distance. He wins roughly 1 in 4 races on dry ground and has a strong record at Ayr specifically with three wins from 11 visits. He's not been at his best lately but his course form makes him interesting.

Trainer Quotes
Sep 2022
"He won twice for us as a juvenile and then left for a season before joining us in July after a Carlisle win for Rebecca Menzies. He's in the form of his life and has won twice more for us, rising from 61 to 76 in the handicap. He's far from straightforward but we know his quirks. He must walk to the start and goes in the stalls without a jockey. He was carried badly left and promoted to third in the stewards' room at Windsor last Thursday. He stayed down in the area and ran another good race on Saturday when fourth at Ascot, which more than paid for his trip. He thrives on his racing and could be a Bronze Cup hope at Ayr next week. 12-09-22"

Zero wins from four races and, crucially, he has never raced on dry ground like today — so this is genuinely unknown territory for him. That's a significant question mark in a race where most rivals have relevant dry-ground form. His odds drifting sharply suggest the market isn't convinced either.

The best win rate in the field — winning roughly 1 in every 6 races — and he arrives here on the back of a win at Hamilton 17 days ago, which is encouraging recent form. He has won on both soft and normal ground conditions, so today's dry surface shouldn't be a problem. The concern is that his jockey and trainer have never won together in six attempts.

The only course specialist in the field with five wins at Ayr, and his record at this exact course and distance makes him stand out on paper. The problem is his last three runs have been dire — finishing 11th, 13th, and 14th — and his record on dry ground specifically is zero wins from eight attempts. It's hard to back him until he shows something closer to his best form.

He's finished 8th and 15th in his last two races, and his record on dry ground — which is what he faces today — is zero wins from six attempts. While he has won on softer ground, the conditions here don't play to any of his strengths. Hard to make a case for him at this point.

He won at Wolverhampton just 23 days ago, so his form is live, but his record at Ayr is zero wins from six attempts and he has never won on dry ground in 16 tries — two facts that are very hard to ignore. All seven of his career wins have come on artificial surfaces at Newcastle and Wolverhampton. This is a very different test.

How do odds work? The first number is what you win, the second is what you bet. So 5/2 means you win £5 for every £2. 4/1 means you win £4 for every £1. The bigger the first number, the less likely bookmakers think the horse will win — but the more you'd win if it does.
