The most striking detail is his recent form. After a run of mid-field and tailback finishes — 7th, 8th, 10th, 10th in succession — he bounced back to finish 5th last time out and then went one better, winning at Hamilton Park just this week. That kind of turnaround, from the back of the field to the winner's enclosure in the space of a few runs, is exactly what trainers hope for when they're patient with a young horse still learning the game.
Hi Lord races mainly at Class 5 level, which is the bread-and-butter tier of British racing — not glamorous, but competitive and honest. At that level he has won 1 from 5, a 20% win rate, which is a perfectly respectable return. His first career win came at Catterick Bridge back in October 2024, and now he has added Hamilton Park to the list this week, giving him two different tracks on his winners' CV at still only four years old.
He is trained by Gary Harrison, based in Lesmahagow in Lanarkshire — a small, quieter yard rather than one of the big southern powerhouses. Harrison's team has sent out 1 winner this season, and Hi Lord is it. That matters. This isn't a horse getting lost in a large string; when a small yard produces a winner, there's a good chance the horse has been carefully placed and patiently managed to find the right race at the right time. Having raced just yesterday, Hi Lord is very much in the thick of his season right now, and on current form, it would be no surprise to see him add to his tally soon.
