One win from 16 races, and the last three runs read 15th, 7th, and 8th — beaten by enormous margins each time. That sole career victory came at a flat track in Britain over sprint distances, making today's 2m 4f hurdle over fences a very different challenge. The data here simply doesn't support optimism.

The market favourite at 6.0 and the best career win rate in the field — winning roughly 1 in every 7 races — Itaintmebabe has a genuine claim to top billing here. That said, the win came at Fakenham in Britain nearly six months ago, and the two runs since were a seventh and a fifth beaten well over 30 lengths each time. Returning from a four-month break is the key question, but the ability is clearly there when the horse is right.

The editorial verdict goes to Sarah's Express as a tentative selection, built on what was described as an encouraging comeback run — a fourth-place finish at Kilbeggan 20 days ago, backed up by another fourth at Clonmel before that. Seven races without a win or a place finish is a thin CV, but the back-to-back fourths suggest this horse is finding a level and may be ready to go one better. Danny Mullins in the saddle is a positive.

Second in the market at 7.6 but has never won in 12 races — a puzzling position for a horse that has only managed two placed finishes in its entire career. The recent form offers little encouragement either, with a pulled-up run sandwiched between two fourth-place finishes. The cheekpieces are a small flag that the trainer is trying something new, but the record makes it hard to get excited.
Despite sitting among the market leaders at 9.8, Whiskey Serenade has never won in seven races and was beaten over 15 lengths in seventh last time out. The two runs before that were even more distant, suggesting this is a horse that has been struggling for form rather than threatening to win. The market position feels optimistic given the evidence on the track.

Seven races, no wins, no places, and finishing positions in the last six runs that read 7th, 10th, 9th, 11th, 6th, 12th — Little Boy Sivola has been consistently well beaten without ever getting close. The 12th-place finish at Down Royal last time, beaten 56 lengths, was particularly discouraging. At five years old there is still time, but there is nothing in the form to suggest a win is close.

One win from 29 races is a slim return, and that single success came on fast, dry ground — today's normal conditions are as good as it gets for this horse on paper, but it has never won on anything softer. Coming back after roughly five months off and teaming up with a jockey for the first time adds further uncertainty. Hard to make a case with finishing positions of 11th, 5th, and a fall from its last three outings.

Eight years old with 19 races on the clock and just one win to show for it, Ixigreczed is a horse that has found winning a rare experience. The recent form figures — 15th, 13th, 10th — paint a picture of a horse that has been well beaten, and the data shows it struggles on normal ground with no wins from five attempts on this surface. Blinkers go on, but the trends point against.

Only four races into its career, so there is still plenty unknown about Thewaybackhome, but what we do know isn't encouraging — no wins, one place, and a 14th-place finish at Punchestown last time. Crucially, this horse has never raced on normal ground before, so today is a step into the unknown on that front. Too many question marks to fancy with confidence.

Ten races, no wins, and not a single place finish to the horse's name — The Sugarhill Lady is one of the least rewarding records in this field. The most recent run was a fourth at Cork, which at least shows some competitiveness, but the overall pattern is one of a horse that gets into races without ever threatening to win them. Hard to make a case here.
Just four races into her career, Lady Aquarelle remains a largely unknown quantity — no wins, no places, and a ninth-place finish at Clonmel last time out. Importantly, she has never raced on normal ground before, so today represents new territory for a horse still finding its feet. Too little data and too many unknowns to make a strong case.
The lowest-rated horse in the field, carrying the lightest weight and rated 12 pounds below the field average — Hob's Angel has never won in 22 races across a 10-year career. A sixth-place finish at Tramore last month showed some life, and a sixth beaten only 3.5 lengths at Wexford before that is the best recent evidence. The light weight could help, but the record of zero wins from 22 races is impossible to ignore.

Seven races, no wins, and off the track for over seven months — Charlie's Gift faces a steep challenge returning from a long absence with so little to build on. The best recent result is a third-place finish, but it came at the end of a run beaten over 15 lengths, which tells you how far back the field was. With a string of mid-field and poor finishes since, this looks like a tough spot for a comeback.

Fourteen races without a win is a long search, and Set The Tone has only one place finish to show for all that effort. The recent form includes two pulled-up runs and an eighth place, and at 34.0 in the market the bookmakers clearly share the scepticism. One of the harder horses to back with any confidence in this field.

The standout ground stat here is striking — Cruisin Susan wins roughly 1 in every 4 races on normal ground, the best record on today's conditions of any horse in this field. At nine years old with 34 races under her belt, she knows what she is doing, and three career wins show the ability to get it done. The recent form has tailed off badly, but if conditions are the key, today could suit better than the bare numbers suggest.

The longest absence in the field by some distance — Galilean Prince has not raced in 350 days — and the form before that break makes grim reading: four races, all finishing between 12th and 14th, beaten enormous distances every time. Cheekpieces go on in what looks like an attempt to spark something new, but this horse has a mountain to climb on its return. The longest shot case in the race.
How do odds work? The first number is what you win, the second is what you bet. So 5/2 means you win £5 for every £2. 4/1 means you win £4 for every £1. The bigger the first number, the less likely bookmakers think the horse will win — but the more you'd win if it does.
