There are some encouraging signs buried in the figures. That suggests he knows how to place a horse when the track is riding well, and that getting his runners out in the right circumstances matters more than simply running them often.

The one relationship that stands out, for all the wrong reasons, is his three-race partnership with Mayor Of Maghera, which has yet to produce a win. Three races without a return isn't a crisis — plenty of good trainers have horses that take time to click — but it's a thread worth watching as Quinn looks to turn this quieter season around.
