TrackLab Insight
The market favourite and the editorial nap, and it's not hard to see why — this horse has finished in the top three in every single one of its five career races, including a close second last month at Wolverhampton on its first run in a handicap. It drops down two class levels today, which gives it a significant advantage over most rivals, and at just four years old with only five races under its belt it remains less exposed than almost anything else in the field. The concern is a poor record on the type of surface likely today, but the class edge could compensate.

TrackLab Insight
A solid if unspectacular campaigner who wins roughly 1 in 7 races and has placed in nearly half his starts, but recent form is pointing the wrong way — he was fifth at Musselburgh last time and has finished outside the top three in four of his last six races. His record on dry, fast ground is a real concern here: zero wins from seven attempts in those conditions, and that's exactly what he faces today. Hard to get excited about his chances despite his experience.

Trainer Quotes
Jun 2023
"This colt is a real dude and has done nothing but please me this year. Last season he ran four times, making the frame every time, but having done well over the winter he has really kicked off this year in great style. He won at Ripon and Haydock, both over a mile, and that meant he'd gone up 12lb, so I felt it would be good to see how far he had progressed by running him in the Silver Bowl at Haydock last weekend. Unfortunately, he was slowly away and had to use up petrol earlier than ideal, and having managed to get into a good position he understandably tied up late on. The winner Covey looked different class, but we're unlikely to face horses like him every time. 01-06-23"

TrackLab Insight
The form book is working against him right now — he was beaten nearly 50 lengths at Aintree last time out, and the run before that was equally grim at Cheltenham. His best form has come over much longer distances than today's mile and a quarter, and those recent runs came over jumps-style distances that bear little relation to what's on offer here. Hard to find a reason to back him on current evidence.

"He was solid on the Flat and jumped nicely when winning on his debut over hurdles at Sedgefield. I don't know what he beat at Chepstow last time but he did it well under a penalty and he's likely to go for the Wensleydale up at Wetherby next before he has a break. Beyond that we can look at something like the Adonis and hopefully he can end up at Cheltenham in March. 24-10-25"

TrackLab Insight
Three wins from 18 races sounds decent enough, but the recent form is poor — beaten five lengths or more in his last three runs, and his record on dry ground is a blank: zero wins from five attempts in those conditions. He's also never won on right-handed tracks that favour a sweeping, galloping style, and Redcar fits that description, making this a tough ask. He's been running at Musselburgh where he thrives, but this is a different challenge entirely.

TrackLab Insight
The standout course angle in this field — the only horse here who has already won at Redcar, doing so over today's exact trip, and his record on fast, dry ground reads two wins from just three attempts, which is exceptional. He wins roughly 1 in 4 races overall, and his record specifically at a mile and a quarter is remarkable: three wins from five races. The worry is that his last two outings have both been disappointing, so he needs to bounce back today.

TrackLab Insight
The biggest question mark in the race is the layoff — this horse hasn't raced in over five months, the longest absence of any runner in the field, and his last run before the break was a distant ninth. He was second here at Redcar just before that break, which at least shows he can handle the track, and he wins roughly 1 in 5 races across his career. Coming back cold after such a long absence, it's a leap of faith.

TrackLab Insight
The most raced horse in the field by some margin — 44 runs and counting — but only 3 wins to show for it, and his record on normal dry ground conditions is alarming: zero wins from 12 attempts. His wins came on either faster or softer ground, never what he'll likely face today. At seven years old and without a win since 2023, patience with him has to be wearing thin.

TrackLab Insight
At eight years old, this is the oldest horse in the field, and with only 3 wins from 24 career races he doesn't have the numbers to inspire confidence. He was sixth here at Redcar just ten days ago, and his record on dry ground and on tracks with Redcar's layout is a string of zeros in the win column. Returning quickly after a modest run, there's little here to suggest a turnaround is coming.

TrackLab Insight
The most experienced horse in the field with 59 races, more than double the average of his rivals, and he carries the lowest weight today — a useful advantage that helps him. He was a close second here at Redcar just ten days ago, which proves he's in decent nick right now and suited by the track. However, he's rated 10lbs below the field average, meaning he's meeting some rivals who are officially much better horses, and his jockey-trainer combination has yet to win together from five attempts.

How do odds work? The first number is what you win, the second is what you bet. So 5/2 means you win £5 for every £2. 4/1 means you win £4 for every £1. The bigger the first number, the less likely bookmakers think the horse will win — but the more you'd win if it does.
