Having taken her first recorded ride in April 2026, Keegan-Price is about as new to race riding as it gets. The number in brackets after her name — the (7) — is her claim, a weight allowance that allows her to carry 7 pounds less than the standard weight on any horse she rides. It exists specifically to give young, inexperienced jockeys a chance to prove themselves, making them an attractive option for trainers willing to take a punt on emerging talent. The bigger the claim, the greener the jockey — and a 7-pound claim is as fresh as it comes.
