What makes Bowen more than just a busy jockey is the quality of races he has been winning. He has ridden 16 top-level victories across some of Britain's most prestigious venues — Doncaster, Newbury and Cheltenham among them. These are the biggest races in the sport, contested by the best horses, and getting to ride in them at all is an achievement. Winning them repeatedly puts Bowen in a different category entirely. His most recent was at Ascot in January 2026, one of the most famous racecourses in the world, which confirmed that he belongs on the biggest stages.
The most telling number in his record, though, is what happens when he teams up with trainer Nicky Henderson. Henderson is one of the most decorated trainers in British jump racing — his horses are consistently among the best in the country — and Bowen has ridden 34 winners from 128 rides for the yard. That is a win rate of 27%, or just over 1 in every 4 races. When a trainer of Henderson's standing puts one jockey on his horses that often, and that jockey keeps winning, it says something about the trust that has been built between them.
On a smaller scale, Bowen has also developed a clear affection for Bangor-on-Dee, a tight, turning track in North Wales that punishes riders who are not precise. He has won 4 times from just 8 rides there — half of every race he has entered. Tracks like Bangor separate the riders who simply follow the field from those who read a race early and commit to a line. A 50% record at any track is the kind of stat that makes trainers with horses entered there pick up the phone.
At just four years into his career, Bowen already has the big-race record of someone much further along. The next chapter is simply about how high he can go.
