The recent form figures of 9-7-7-11-3-11 are a mixed picture. That third place a few runs back showed a flash of promise, but either side of it the numbers are ordinary, and there is nothing in the last half-dozen outings to suggest a breakthrough is imminent. The horse raced just one day ago, so is clearly being kept busy, which sometimes reflects a yard trying different approaches to find the right opportunity.
Simon Whitaker trains from Scarcroft in West Yorkshire, and the yard has found three winners so far this season — a modest but respectable tally that shows the operation does get horses winning. Whitaker has sent Ziva's Star out 13 times in the lowest tier of British racing, Class 6, and the horse is still waiting for a first win at that level. Class 6 is essentially the entry level of the sport, so the fact that no win has come there yet is the honest truth of where things stand. Whether a change of conditions, a different trip, or simply a good day finally aligning is what the team will be hoping for next time out.
