Class 2 races are among the better races in Britain, and Zarzyni makes a habit of turning up in them — 18 of its 51 races have been at that level. Winning even 1 of those 18 is no embarrassment; most horses at that grade go their entire careers without a win. The standout result came at Musselburgh on 16 April 2022, when Zarzyni won a Class 2 there — its first ever career win, at a course it has since made something of a personal territory. Three wins from 10 races at Musselburgh is a remarkable record. That is 30% — nearly 1 in every 3 visits ending in a win — and at a track that rewards horses who genuinely know the place, that kind of consistency is worth paying attention to.

The conditions matter too. On slightly soft ground, Zarzyni finds another gear: 2 wins from 11 races at 18%, or roughly 1 in every 5 runs when the ground has a bit of give in it. Over the shortest sprint trips — under five furlongs — the record is even sharper, with 1 win from just 4 races, a 25% hit rate. When the trip is short and the ground is slightly soft, this horse becomes a different proposition. Connor Beasley, who rides Zarzyni most regularly — 7 times in total — knows what works.

Recent form has been patchy: a run of 7s, 8s, and 9s before a win at Southwell in September 2025. That victory, seven months ago now, was a reminder that the engine is still running. With Zarzyni having raced just yesterday and still active, the Barron yard clearly believes there is more to come. Whether that means another trip to Musselburgh on a damp day remains to be seen, but if it does, history says pay attention.
