Our Nicola

Trainer David Barron and his wife Nicola, who run their stable from Maunby in North Yorkshire, have had a decent season by their standards, with 15 winners sent out to the track. But Our Nicola has not been among them. The horse has raced exclusively in the lower classes—the kind of races where the gaps between horses are smallest and the margins tightest. In seven attempts at this level, it remains winless, which explains why breaking through has proven so difficult. This is a horse trying hard on a weekly basis but simply hasn't found the formula yet. Whether more time, a change in tactics, or a moment of luck will turn things around remains to be seen.
