His best days came in a bright spell in 2022. He broke his duck at Doncaster in March of that year, then stepped up to win a Class 2 race at Goodwood in April — one of the top levels of racing in Britain, and the kind of occasion that suggests a horse with genuine ability rather than just a fortunate winner. His owner, Paul Roy, was candid after Goodwood that nobody had really understood a poor run at Newmarket shortly before — the horse had "emptied" during the race, which in plain terms means he ran out of gas earlier than he should have. That inconsistency, with performances swinging dramatically between his best and worst, was something trainer Ruth Carr eventually addressed by having his wind treated — a routine procedure designed to help horses breathe more efficiently and run more consistently.
Carr trains out of Stillington in North Yorkshire and has had a productive season, sending out 63 winners. Dawn Of Liberation has been part of her string throughout, and his most recent win came at York in June 2025, just eleven months ago, so he is still capable of finding the line first. He is most effective on normal ground — four of his five wins have come in those conditions — and his best distance is around a mile and three to four furlongs, where he has won 2 of his 11 races at that trip, a rate of roughly 1 in 5.
The honest picture right now is that he is going through a lean patch. His last six runs read 7-6-7-10-6-5 (most recent last), none of them close to winning, and at Class 4 — the bread-and-butter level where he spends most of his time — he has won just 1 of 20 races, or 1 in every 20 attempts at that level. Warren Fentiman rides him most often, winning once from eight rides together. He raced just yesterday, so the yard are keeping him busy. A horse who has touched Class 2 level and won at York is clearly talented; the question now is whether he can rediscover the consistency that made those moments possible.
