Celebrating Ethel fits neatly into that picture: a straightforward, honest racer who competes mostly at Class 6 level, the entry level of British racing, where the prize money is modest but the competition is real. At that level, she has won just 1 from 17 races, which sounds thin, but her three wins overall have mostly come at slightly longer trips — between a mile and a mile and two furlongs — where she has won 3 from 21 races, or roughly 1 in 7. That is a meaningful improvement, and it suggests she benefits from a bit of time to settle and build momentum.

Ground conditions matter too. On normal going, she wins around 1 in every 4 or 5 races — 2 wins from 9 — which is a sharp contrast to her overall numbers and points to a horse that genuinely needs the ground to be fair rather than soft or firm. She is not a horse for extreme conditions.
