That record of zero wins from 20 races is hard to sugarcoat, but the seven placed finishes do offer something to work with. The recent form reads 3-4-5-7-4-7 going back through the last six runs, and a third place in the most recent sequence suggests the horse is at least threading its way into contention on occasion. It raced just yesterday, so trainer Joey Ramsden is clearly keeping it busy and hunting for that elusive first win.
Ramsden's yard at Newark has sent out five winners already this season, so the operation is in decent form — it just hasn't happened for Bullington Bry yet. The horse has had nine attempts at Class 6 level, which is the lowest tier of British racing, and has still not broken through. That is a significant detail. Class 6 represents the most accessible grade of competition, and when a horse cannot win at that level across nine attempts, it suggests finding the right opportunity is proving genuinely difficult. It does not mean the horse is without merit — seven places shows it competes — but it does mean the win, if and when it comes, will feel hard earned.
At four years old there is still time, and the yard will be hoping that a combination of experience and the right conditions eventually clicks. For now, Bullington Bry is very much a horse in search of its moment.
