Craig O'Neill

The most interesting thread in O'Neill's story so far is his partnership with Aisling Oscar, a horse that has given the yard its clearest moments of success. Two wins from 18 races together works out at roughly 1 in every 9 races — modest on paper, but for a trainer at this stage, a horse you know well enough to keep running and occasionally get right is genuinely valuable. It represents a working relationship built over time, the kind where a trainer learns exactly what a horse needs to produce its best.

O'Neill started training in 2021, which means he is still in the phase where most yards are experimenting, learning which horses suit which races, and trying to establish a reliable string. The sample size is small, but that is the nature of a young operation — every winner matters more, and every runner is a chance to learn something.
