It would be easy to read too much into the blank scorecard, but it really tells us very little at this point. Most jockeys take time to break through, and five races is a tiny sample — the equivalent of judging a footballer on one half of one game. What matters now is simply getting the experience, learning the tracks, and building relationships with trainers who will keep putting him up. The first winner, when it comes, will feel like a big deal — and it usually arrives sooner than people expect once a young rider finds their footing.
