Tzarmix

The class level Tzarmix typically operates at — Class 4, which sits in the middle of the British racing pyramid — has proven a tough nut to crack. Just 1 win from 17 races at that level, a success rate of around 1 in 17, suggests the horse is competitive there without quite being dominant. What it does have, though, is excellent recent form. The last six runs read 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 4th — five finishes in the top four, including a win at Ludlow in December 2025. That is the kind of sequence that tells you a horse is racing well and enjoying its work.

That Ludlow success came almost exactly five months ago, and Tzarmix has been kept busy since, racing as recently as yesterday. Trainer Alastair Ralph, based in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, clearly keeps the horse ticking over — and Ralph's yard has been in decent nick this season, sending out 25 winners. There is a slight puzzle in the partnership with jockey Max Kendrick, who has ridden Tzarmix six times without getting a win from the combination. That is not necessarily a reflection on either horse or rider — sometimes the right result just hasn't come together — but it is a record worth noting.

The first career win came at Chepstow in March 2023, and it took until December 2025 for the second to arrive at Ludlow. Two wins from 20 races — roughly 1 in every 10 — is a modest headline figure, but context matters here. Tzarmix's real value is in the frequency with which it makes the frame. For a yard looking for prize money rather than glory, a horse that finishes second or third almost as often as it misses the placings entirely is genuinely useful. At eight, it knows its job — and it appears to still be enjoying it.
