The most telling number on his record is his performance in top-tier racing. At Class 2 level — one step below the very biggest races in Britain — he has won 2 from 6, a remarkable 1-in-3 rate. Most horses struggle when they step up in class; Transmission appears to thrive on the occasion. His trainer Neil Mulholland, whose yard at Limpley Stoke in Wiltshire has sent out 60 winners this season alone, has spoken openly about targeting the Midlands Grand National, the Scottish Grand National, and the bet365 Gold Cup — a race Mulholland knows well, having won it before with The Young Master. That is serious ambition, and Transmission is clearly the horse earmarked to carry it.

What makes him particularly interesting is his record at Plumpton, a tight, sharp track in East Sussex. He has won 2 of just 3 races there, which is the kind of dominance that makes any regular racegoer sit up. His career first win came at Plumpton in January 2024, and he has never really looked back since. Then came the most recent win — a Class 2 success at Musselburgh in February 2026, ridden by Conor O'Farrell, a jockey who has become a regular presence at the Mulholland yard and clearly has a strong understanding of the horses in his care.

His last six runs — a win, two placed efforts, and three difficult days — show a horse that can be inconsistent, but the overall picture is of an animal capable of producing his best when conditions and course suit. Mulholland has been candid that fast, dry ground is not his friend, and that his horses typically need a first run to sharpen up. The fact that he was raced just one day ago and returned a first, a third, and a seventh from his last three outings suggests the yard have kept him busy chasing the right opportunities. The big spring targets are still on the agenda, and Transmission looks like a horse who could make them very interesting indeed.
