A horse winning on the first day of the year, at 12, at its favourite track, is the kind of story that deserves more attention than it usually gets.

Strip out the races at other tracks and you're looking at a genuine specialist. The honest summary is this: Trais Fluors is a course specialist in the later stages of a long career, and if you ever find yourself watching a race at Newcastle, it is well worth a second look at the racecard.
