The career arc has a satisfying shape to it. A first win came at Musselburgh in October 2025, and within a matter of weeks The Resdev Scholar had added another at Doncaster in November — two wins in six weeks suggesting a horse that had found its feet and was building momentum. The recent form figures of 3-3-4-2-1-1 (reading from most recent backwards) show a horse that won back-to-back and has since posted a second and two thirds. That's not a horse falling away — that's a horse running well every single time out.

The partnership with jockey Joanna Mason is worth paying attention to. In seven races together, Mason has ridden the horse to all three of its wins — a win rate of 43%, which translates to winning nearly 3 in every 7 times they line up as a team. For context, that is an exceptional figure in a sport where winning 1 in 5 is considered a strong record. When Mason is in the saddle, something clearly clicks.

Behind the scenes, the operation is in very capable hands. Trainers Michael and David Easterby, based at Sheriff Hutton in North Yorkshire, have sent out 55 winners already this season — a yard that clearly knows how to get horses ready to perform. The Resdev Scholar has raced last just one day ago, meaning this is a horse in the thick of its season, actively campaigning and in current form.

The one thing to keep an eye on is the class level. Competing mostly in Class 4 races — a solid mid-tier level — the horse has won just 1 from 7 at that grade (around 1 in 7). The consistent placings suggest it is competitive there, but finding that extra gear to win more regularly at that standard is the next challenge. Whether The Resdev Scholar can do that more consistently will define whether this promising young horse has a bigger story still to tell.
