Beverley suits him in a way that most tracks simply do not, and his most recent win there came just three weeks ago on 23 April 2026. He raced again yesterday, which tells you this is a horse in the middle of a busy spell, not one being wrapped in cotton wool. His last six runs read 8-1-4-3-7-2 — a bit patchy on the surface, but that second place just before the win, and the win itself, suggest he has been in decent form when the conditions are right.

Trainer Adrian Nicholls, who operates out of Sessay in North Yorkshire and has sent out 12 winners already this season, is refreshingly honest about what he has got. He has described Tees George as no superstar, but has been quick to add that at his level the horse has been remarkably consistent, rarely running a bad race. The one headache Nicholls mentions is physical — Tees George is a big, light-framed horse, and keeping weight on him is an ongoing challenge. That kind of frame can make a horse look underdone, but it has not stopped him competing.

Almost all of his racing has come at Class 6, which is the entry-level tier of British racing. He has won 2 of 19 races at that level, roughly 1 in every 10, which is a perfectly respectable return for a horse operating in modest company. His regular rider Paddy Mathers has yet to get him over the line in six attempts together, but given Tees George's record at Beverley, that partnership might just need the right track on the right day. He first won back in September 2023 at Newcastle, and has kept finding ways to add to that tally since. Dependable, course-savvy, and still active — exactly what a small yard needs.
