Tanmawwy

The most telling detail is recent: Tanmawwy hasn't won in its last six races, the most recent coming just yesterday, a ninth-place finish. Before that came a fourth-place run and a fifth. This is a horse in a dry spell. Its last win came nearly two years ago at Epsom Downs on 26 August 2024, which for an active racehorse is a long time between celebrations. Trainer Heather Main, based at Kingston Lisle in Oxfordshire, has managed the horse carefully—it typically competes in Class 2 races, the highest level, though it has managed just one win from nine at that level, a success at Windsor in July 2023. That Class 2 victory came on normal ground, the conditions where Tanmawwy shows its best form.

Main's team has sent out 17 winners this season, so the yard is in good health, but Tanmawwy itself is in need of a reset. The trainer has previously noted the horse's preference for six furlongs over longer distances, a detail that shapes which races suit it. With normal ground as its strong suit and Windsor as its fortress track, Tanmawwy remains a horse worth following in the right conditions—but it will need to rediscover the form that brought success two years ago.
