The trainer is David Flood, who operates a small yard out of Stow-on-the-Wold in Gloucestershire. It has been a modest season — two winners sent out so far — which gives some context to what Summer Evening is working with. This is not a powerhouse operation with resources to keep running horses indefinitely for fun; every race counts, and the continued appearances suggest Flood sees something in this horse worth persevering with.
