The breeding alone makes Stellar worth watching. The sire, Sea The Stars, is widely regarded as one of the finest racehorses of his generation and has gone on to become one of the most reliable producers of top-class offspring in Europe. Horses by Sea The Stars tend to be versatile, genuine, and capable of running well on almost any ground — and plenty of them have turned out to be very good indeed.
The other reason for optimism is where Stellar calls home. Roger Varian's operation in Newmarket is one of the sharpest yards in Britain right now, having already sent out 86 winners this season alone. That is not a yard that wastes its time — when a Varian horse turns up on debut, it is usually there to run a proper race.
