Sparkling Jem

The training partnership of Rachel Cook and John Bridger at Liphook hasn't made the headlines this season — their seven winners so far are modest by the standards of some larger yards — but they are working steadily. For a 2-year-old still searching for that first win, there's nothing unusual about the journey so far. Some horses need time, a few more races, and the right set of circumstances before they break their duck. Sparkling Jem will get more chances, and the recent eleventh-place run was clearly no reason to stop racing. Whether this horse goes on to win races or remains in that large category of runners who never quite get there remains to be seen.
