It won its first race at Brighton back in October 2021 and has been a reliable if unspectacular competitor ever since, placing in 16 races beyond its 8 wins — meaning it has finished in the frame in more than half its career outings. The sweet spot is a distance of around a mile and three to four furlongs, where it has won 4 of 14 races, a rate of 29%. Ground conditions matter too: it has won 3 from 11 on soft or slightly wet ground and 2 from 7 on fast, dry ground — both hovering around that same 29% figure, which suggests a horse that goes well when conditions suit rather than one that needs everything to go perfectly.

The regular partner in the saddle is Kaiya Fraser, who has ridden Spanish Hustle 12 times and won twice together — a win rate of roughly 1 in 6 rides. That's a partnership built on familiarity rather than fireworks, but in a yard that has sent out 88 winners this season alone, Goldie clearly knows how to place a horse where it can compete.

The honest caveat is that Spanish Hustle has not won in its last six races, with recent finishes of 10th, 8th, 4th, 4th, 7th, and 4th. There are places there, but no victories since Hamilton Park last July — nearly 10 months ago. It also competes almost exclusively at Class 5 level, the lower end of the sport, where it has won just 1 from 19 races at that grade. The Hamilton Park record suggests the ability is real. The question now is simply whether there's one more win left in those legs.
