The fact that he keeps running Slack Alice suggests he believes there is a race to be won somewhere, and with form this consistent, it is hard to argue with him entirely. She raced just yesterday, so she is very much part of the current plans.

Whether she ever converts that placed consistency into a win remains the question. Horses like her are not failures — they are a frustration, which is almost worse. She is good enough to be competitive, just not yet good enough to be a winner.
