What we do know is where she comes from. Her father, Night of Thunder, won the 2014 Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket — one of the most prestigious races in Britain — and has built a solid record as a sire of winners. Her mother's side carries the influence of Kingman, another high-class miler whose offspring have a strong reputation for being quick, intelligent horses that tend to improve with experience. On paper, the breeding is genuinely attractive.
The trainer, Roger Varian, is one of the most respected names in Newmarket, a town that is essentially the headquarters of British flat racing. His yard has sent out 87 winners already this season, which is the kind of output that tells you this is an operation that knows how to prepare a horse. When Varian runs a debutant, it is worth paying attention — his team tends not to waste a journey.
