The career numbers tell a story of quiet persistence. Four wins and 13 places from 36 races — that is a win rate of around 11%, or roughly 1 in every 9 races — does not shout superstar. But it does describe a horse that nearly always shows up, hangs around the front end of proceedings, and occasionally delivers. Thirteen placed finishes is a lot of near-misses, and there is something almost admirable about a horse that keeps competing without ever quite running away with things.

That is a proper partnership, and worth remembering when checking who is booked to ride.

Seraphic typically competes at Class 6, the entry-level tier of British racing, and has won 3 of 22 races at that level — roughly 1 in every 7. The horse also shows promise at a mile and one or two furlongs, winning 1 of 5 races over that distance, a 20% clip that suggests the slightly longer trip suits. Not a horse to build a fortune around, but one that earns its keep, gives the yard — the team — plenty of days out, and is clearly peaking right now.
