The road to those wins wasn't straightforward. When the horse returned to the track, it ran at Newcastle in May 2024 and won — a result Goldie described as a real relief. He's spoken warmly about the horse's pedigree too, with Sea Legend being a son of Sea The Stars, a stallion Goldie rates highly and who has a strong record of producing quality racehorses.

What makes Sea Legend interesting right now is its recent form. In the last six races, it has won twice — including a win at Newcastle as recently as late March 2026, just four weeks ago. That's a horse in form, not one scraping by. It also clearly has preferred conditions: on normal ground, it wins 3 from 16 races (19%, nearly 1 in every 5), and at distances around a mile and a quarter, it converts at 22% — 2 wins from just 9 races. That's a horse with genuine strengths when conditions line up.

One curious subplot is the jockey picture. Paul Mulrennan has ridden Sea Legend 11 times without a win between them — a partnership that hasn't yet clicked. All three career wins have come with different arrangements, which is the kind of thing that makes you wonder whether a change in the saddle might unlock something. With a yard in good form, a horse that loves Newcastle, and the track coming up again as a natural target, Sea Legend looks like one to keep an eye on over the summer months.
