That sole win came at Wexford on 27 October 2025, and it is no coincidence that the track is essentially home turf. Paul Nolan, who trains Sageborough, is based at Enniscorthy in County Wexford — a matter of miles from the racecourse itself. Horses trained close to a track often get to walk the course regularly and race in front of a familiar crowd, and Nolan clearly knows how to place a horse to its best advantage on that patch of ground. His yard has sent out 22 winners already this season, which tells you this is not a small operation making up the numbers — it is a yard in form, with a trainer who knows what he is doing.

The recent run of results does show a quiet spell before that winning day — a seventh-place finish and then the breakthrough victory — so Sageborough is not yet the most consistent horse on the circuit. But one win, two places, and five races in total is a thin sample. There is plenty of racing still to come for a five-year-old, and with a trainer sending out winners at this rate and a course win already on the board, the foundations are there for Sageborough to build something more substantial.
