Romanovich

Now seven years old, Romanovich has been a reliable if unspectacular performer across a long career, picking up 17 places alongside those seven wins and showing the kind of consistency that keeps a horse in work. He competes almost exclusively at Class 6, the entry level of British racing, where he has won six of his 32 races at that level — roughly one in five. That is a respectable return at the level, and it tells you this is a horse who knows his job and does it honestly, even if the top races have never been his territory.

His most trusted partner in the saddle is William Carson, and together they have built a record worth noting: three wins from 16 races, which is a win rate of around 19% — better than one in five. That is a meaningful connection, particularly at a yard that has been in form this season. John O'Shea, training out of Newham-on-Severn in Gloucestershire, has sent out nine winners already this season, and Romanovich fits the profile of the kind of horse a busy, productive smaller yard relies on.

Recent form gives plenty to work with. His last six runs read 3-6-1-5-9-5, with that "1" — a win at Wolverhampton just six weeks ago, on 23 March 2026 — sitting at the centre of it. He raced again just yesterday, which means he is being kept very active. Trainers who run horses in quick succession usually do so because the horse is in good health and the opportunities are there. At seven, with a win as recently as last month, Romanovich is clearly still competitive and still being pointed at races he can win. That is no small thing for a horse at this stage of his career.
