Rogue Desire

Trained by Jack Jones at Newmarket — one of British racing's most famous training centres, a town that essentially exists because of horses — Rogue Desire is part of a yard that clearly knows what it is doing. Jones has sent out 35 winners already this season, which tells you this is not an operation that struggles to get its horses ready to perform. When a trainer is firing in winners at that kind of volume, you can usually trust that the horses in their care are being placed and prepared sensibly.

The most recent run came just one day ago, so Rogue Desire is very much a horse in the middle of its story rather than at the end of it. That third-place finish is the best result so far, and it came most recently — timing that tends to get people interested. Whether a first win follows soon is the open question, but the direction of travel is encouraging.
