Reenie's Dream

Bryan Smart's yard at Sutton Bank has been productive this season with eighteen winners, but Reenie's Dream remains a puzzle. Ridden most often by Andrew Breslin, the pair have managed seven races together without success, and when the horse has stepped up to compete at Class 6 level—the top tier of racing it has attempted—it has won zero from five attempts. That gap between lower-level racing and Class 6 competition may explain some of the difficulty. The horse's recent pattern is unpredictable: two mid-field finishes followed by a run of three races outside the placings, then a fourth-place effort just last week. With racing active and the horse still young at four, there is time for the picture to change, but twelve races without a win is a stubborn statistic. Whether a change of tactics, fresh ground conditions, or simply a better day will spark improvement remains to be seen.
