Reenie's Dream

The most telling number is this: Reenie's Dream has never won, not in eleven attempts, and the recent form makes for uncomfortable reading. The last six runs read 8-4-9-9-10-5 — that fourth place is the one bright spot, but surrounded by a lot of finishes well down the field. The horse raced just yesterday, so the yard are clearly keeping it busy, though the results haven't followed.

Jockey Andrew Breslin has partnered the horse more than anyone else, riding it in seven of its eleven races, and the pair have yet to win together. Bryan Smart's yard at Sutton Bank in North Yorkshire has had a reasonable season — 16 winners sent out — so the operation clearly knows how to get horses winning. Reenie's Dream, competing almost exclusively at Class 6, the lowest rung of British racing, simply hasn't managed to convert yet. Sometimes a horse finds its moment; Reenie's Dream is still searching for it.
