What is encouraging is the trajectory. A seventh and a tenth early on looked like the kind of results that often come with inexperience, but Reem Rak has since finished second and third in back-to-back races. That is a horse finding its feet and improving with every run, which at three years old is exactly what you want to see.
The trainer behind all of this is Roger Varian, one of the most respected names in British racing. Based out of Newmarket — the historic home of the sport in England — Varian's yard has sent out 86 winners already this season alone. That is a remarkable number and speaks to an operation that genuinely knows how to develop young horses. When a trainer of that calibre keeps running a horse that hasn't won yet, it usually means they see something worth persisting with. Reem Rak raced just yesterday, so the team is clearly keeping it busy and believing in what they have.
No wins yet, but a horse on the rise, trained by someone who wins at scale. The first victory, when it comes, will not be a surprise.
