The two wins it does have came at opposite ends of the calendar and at very different venues. The first arrived at Newmarket in October 2022, one of British racing's most prestigious tracks, which is no small thing. The second, and most recent, came at Galway in August 2024 — now 22 months ago. That gap is telling. Physique has gone six races without a win since that Galway success, and its recent form figures of 3-15-11-7-14-2 paint a picture of a horse that finished second on its most recent outing but has otherwise been struggling to land a blow.

The distance range that suits it best is seven furlongs to a mile — essentially the middle ground of flat racing, not a sprint and not a true test of stamina. Physique has run 19 times over those trips and won twice, a win rate of around 11%, or 1 in every 9 races at that range. That's noticeably better than its overall record and suggests the team knows where to place it to give it the best chance. The bigger puzzle is its record at Class 3 level — nine races, zero wins. Class 3 sits just below the top tier of British racing, and Physique simply hasn't been able to break through at that level yet.

Jockey Mohammed Tabti has ridden the horse six times and won once together, a rate of roughly 1 in 6, which is actually above the horse's overall average. Physique raced just yesterday, so it's clearly in active training and being kept busy. Whether that recent second place signals something stirring, or whether it was simply one of those days when everything came together briefly, is the question anyone following this horse will be watching closely.
