Trained by Tony Coyle and Kaine Wood out of Norton in North Yorkshire, Peggy Boo operates mainly at Class 5, which is the entry-level tier of British racing. Even there, she has drawn a blank in all four of her races at that level. The yard has sent out 12 winners this season, so there's clearly ability in the operation — Peggy Boo just hasn't found a way to tap into it herself yet.
Her recent form figures make for honest reading: in her last six races she has finished 9th, 8th, 7th, 3rd, and 9th, with one run not recorded. The one bright spot is that third-place finish, which at least shows she can get competitive on her day. The overall trend has been finishing mid-to-back of the field, but she is only three years old — horses of that age are still maturing physically, and some take time to put it all together. Whether Peggy Boo is one of those late developers remains to be seen, but she's young enough that it would be too soon to write her off entirely.
