It is one of the biggest long-distance races in Britain, and Bowen is clear-eyed about the challenge — he will be a big price, meaning the bookmakers will not fancy his chances. But the trainer believes he stays all day, has enough pace to travel at the right gallop, and crucially, the timing suits: the horse does not handle wet or muddy ground, so the yard sat out the winter deliberately. By the time Scotland arrives, conditions should be drying into exactly what he needs.

Olivers Travels comes back from five months off with a clean Worcester record, an improving profile, and a yard that has sent out 47 winners this season.
