Nogo's Dream

The trouble is that he hasn't won since June 2025 — over a year ago now — and his recent form tells the story of a horse searching for answers. His last six races read 6-2-4-6-2-5: two placings, but no victories, and a couple of disappointing finishes too. Trained by Richard Hughes at Upper Lambourn, Nogo's Dream typically competes in lower-grade races and has won 2 of his 18 attempts at that level (roughly 1 in 9). The yard is firing — 60 winners this season — but this particular horse remains frustratingly stuck.

What makes Nogo's Dream interesting is what his trainer says about him: quirky, needing the right conditions and the right ride, ultra-consistent to the point of being almost mechanical about finishing second or third. He loves dry or normal ground, winning 2 from 13 races on each (15% win rate), which suggests moisture or very soft ground works against him. His regular jockey George Rooke has won just once from 14 races together, so there may be a question of partnership. Yet the horse keeps running, keeps placing, and every so often — as he did last June at Windsor — he crosses the line in front. For a horse that has earned a modest career haul, Nogo's Dream is a study in effort and near-misses. At nearly a year between wins, he is waiting for the stars to align again.
