Her best surface is wet or muddy ground, where she has won 2 of her 8 races on that underfoot condition — a 25% win rate that is more than double her overall record. That is not a coincidence; it suggests she actually thrives when others are struggling through the mud. Her home territory is Class 4 racing — a solid mid-level grade — where she has won 3 of 13 races, again outperforming her overall numbers. She knows the level she operates at, and she delivers there.

The yard behind her is Mel Rowley's operation out of Bridgnorth in Shropshire, which has sent out 12 winners already this season — a healthy output for a small, regional stable. Her most regular partner in the saddle is Alex Edwards, who has ridden her in 10 of her 25 races. After her first career win at Doncaster in January 2024, Rowley was refreshingly blunt about how it unfolded: Edwards put her in the right spot and the others simply fell away, turning the race into something close to a steering exercise. Sometimes racing is that straightforward.

What is more interesting is what happened recently at Cheltenham — a track with a famous, steep uphill finish that exposes horses who are not fully genuine. Masked Dance did not win, but Rowley was keen to point out that she learned something important there. She does not like being crowded — getting boxed in by other horses at the wrong moment clearly unsettles her — and at Cheltenham that is exactly what happened. Despite it, she rallied strongly after the final hurdle and powered up the hill. For a trainer, that kind of performance in defeat can be worth more than a routine win; it opens up options at tracks previously considered beyond her.

She last won at Ludlow in December 2025, and with a race just yesterday she is very much an active, working horse. Recent form reads 5-6-placed-2-1-5, which shows a second and a win in the heart of it. She is not done yet.
