Magnatura

The form figures tell an interesting story. Reading right to left — so oldest to most recent — Magnatura went 4th, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 1st, 4th. That middle stretch, where it won and finished second in back-to-back races, is the kind of consistency trainers love to see from a young horse still learning the job. The most recent result is a fourth, but with the horse racing just yesterday, this is very much a live, active campaign rather than a finished chapter.

The two wins have come at distances between seven furlongs and a mile, and that band of trips looks like the sweet spot. In four races at those distances, Magnatura has won twice — a 50% win rate, or 1 in every 2 races. That's a striking number. Most horses find one distance that suits them and take time to figure it out; Magnatura looks comfortable operating across that range, which gives trainer Tom Ward real flexibility when it comes to picking races.

Ward himself has had a productive season, sending out 14 winners from his Upper Lambourn yard, and Magnatura has contributed two of those. The horse has been campaigned mainly at Class 4 level — the bread-and-butter middle tier of British racing — where it has won 2 of its 3 races, a two-in-three win rate that is genuinely impressive. Its last win came at Goodwood in October 2025, a track with a well-earned reputation for rewarding horses with a bit of class. Winning there, even at this level, is not something every horse manages.

The first win came at Kempton back in June, so across the season Magnatura has tasted success at two very different tracks — Kempton's flat, artificial surface and Goodwood's famous undulating turf. That kind of versatility in a three-year-old is worth noting. The story here is still being written, but the early chapters suggest Ward has something worth following.
