From just five visits to Ascot, the horse has won twice — a 40% win rate at a track where most horses never win at all. That sort of record at a course as grand as Ascot tells you this is a horse that saves something for the big day.

Trainer Paul Midgley, whose North Yorkshire yard has sent out 39 winners this season alone, has spoken about how Lethal Nymph thrives on fast, dry ground and suits a summer campaign over six furlongs. Midgley has flagged Ascot's Wokingham Stakes as a target, which is one of the most famous sprint handicaps in the British calendar. The fact that the trainer is pointing this horse towards that race rather than something easier tells you he believes there is still a performance in the horse worth waiting for.
