Lelantos

He is trained by Nicky Henderson at Upper Lambourn, one of the most celebrated yards in the country. Henderson's team has sent out 90 winners already this season, so Lelantos is one small piece of a very large, very successful operation. His most regular jockey is Nico de Boinville, and that partnership has produced 3 wins from 10 races together — a win rate of 30%, which is comfortably better than the horse's overall record. His career began with a first win at Southwell back in November 2021, and his most recent came at Huntingdon in November 2025 — meaning his wins have been spread across four years without ever clustering into a purple patch. Recent form reads 3-4-4-3-1-6, which tells you he is competitive more often than not, even if the outright wins have dried up since last autumn. Henderson has been running him in longer-distance hurdle races through the summer months, and after a short break he finished second at Hexham — a solid return, and a sign the horse still has plenty to offer at this level.

At ten years old and raced just yesterday, Lelantos is the kind of horse that keeps showing up. He will never win a race that makes the highlights reel, but he places, he competes, and he keeps earning. There is something quietly admirable about that.
