Le Kap

The horse is currently active and raced just yesterday, finishing ninth. Looking back over the last six outings, the form reads 9-10-6-8-3-4, which shows inconsistency—a couple of mid-field runs, one genuinely poor day in tenth, and that one encouraging third-place showing. There is no clear upward trajectory, but nor is there a horse in steep decline. Le Kap simply hasn't yet managed to piece together the sort of performance needed to win.

Trained by Henry De Bromhead at Knockeen in County Waterford, Le Kap runs in a yard that has been prolific this season, sending out 110 winners. That kind of firing rate suggests a stable with good form and judgement, which may yet work in this horse's favour—but so far, Le Kap hasn't been the one to benefit from it. At six years old, time isn't infinite. The window for horses to establish themselves as winners narrows as they age. Le Kap will need to show something different soon if it is going to become one of the yard's success stories rather than a journeyman trying to find a race it can win.
