What works in this horse's favour is the company it keeps. Le Kap is trained by Henry De Bromhead at his yard in Knockeen, County Waterford — one of the most respected operations in Irish racing. De Bromhead's team has sent out 107 winners already this season, which is a remarkable volume and a sign of a yard that consistently has horses ready to perform. Being part of that set-up matters. Horses trained by De Bromhead tend to be placed with care and given the time they need to develop, so the fact that Le Kap hasn't won yet doesn't necessarily mean the team has given up on finding the right opportunity.

With a race just yesterday, Le Kap is very much in active campaign. Whether that run produced the breakthrough or added another near-miss to the record, the bigger picture is of a six-year-old that still has time on its side and a trainer who clearly knows how to get horses to the winner's enclosure. The first win, when it comes, will be well earned.
