Trained at Musley Bank in North Yorkshire by Richard and Peter Fahey, Kameko Fever is part of a yard that has sent out two winners so far this season. The Faheys are a serious operation, so the horse is in good hands, but recent form makes for uncomfortable reading: a string of fourth and fifth-place finishes across the last six races, with a solitary second as the lone bright spot. That means Kameko Fever has been competitive enough to avoid embarrassment but not quite good enough to get its nose in front when it matters.
The horse raced just yesterday, which tells you at least that it remains sound and active — there is no injury layoff clouding the picture. But with zero wins from seven attempts and a sequence that reads 4-4-2-4-5-4, the pattern is becoming hard to ignore. Finishing fourth repeatedly is one of racing's more frustrating outcomes: close enough to suggest ability, far enough back to suggest something is missing. Whether that is a question of finding the right race, the right conditions, or simply needing more time to strengthen up as a three-year-old, only time will tell.
At this stage, Kameko Fever is a horse with a point to prove.
