His first win did not come until November 2024, at Chepstow — late in a career that had promised more than it delivered. Trainer Rebecca Curtis, based at Newport in Pembrokeshire, had hoped he might develop into a decent chaser, and he did win over fences at Chepstow, but his jumping was unreliable enough that the team decided to bring him back to hurdles to rebuild his confidence. It worked. Curtis spoke after a run at Doncaster about how the switch back had "done the trick", and sure enough, the most recent win came at Uttoxeter in late March 2026 — just six weeks ago, suggesting this horse is in the best form of his life right now.

He competes mostly in Class 4 races, which sit in the middle tier of British racing — not the biggest stages, but competitive enough to mean winning is not easy. At that level he has won 2 from 11 races (an 18% win rate, or roughly 1 in every 6), which is a respectable return. Curtis has had a strong season at the yard, sending out 18 winners, and there are signs that Idefix De Ciergues is contributing to that momentum rather than just filling a racecard. His recent form reads 7-1-dash-4-4-3 from his last six outings — a missed run in the middle, a win, and a cluster of placed efforts either side of it. That is the profile of a horse that is consistently in the mix rather than one that fires rarely and fades.

His regular jockey Ben Jones has yet to ride him to a win across six attempts together, which is an odd footnote for a horse currently in form — but with a win just six weeks ago and another race under his belt only yesterday, Idefix De Ciergues is clearly in the thick of his season. Whatever comes next over hurdles or fences, this is a horse that has taken time to arrive but looks like he might have finally found his level.
